PI ICE System Requirements
PI ICE Server - Pentium III 800mhz
- 256 MB RAM
- 30 GB hard drive
Before installing the PI ICE Server, the web server must be running - Windows 2000* Server, Windows 2000 Advanced Server, or Windows 2000 Professional
- Internet Information Server (IIS) 5.0
- Microsoft SQL Server 2000, any edition.
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 SP2 or later
Windows XP is not supported as the PI ICE Server While not a requirement, it is recommended that the administrator of the machine on which PI ICE is to be installed complete installation of the latest updates and patches from Microsoft for both the Operating System (except for Windows 2000 Service Pack 3) and SQL Server 2000 as well as any security patches or fixes to IIS.
PI Server requirements - PI ICE requires PI 3.3 or later as the PI Server. It uses the trust features of PI 3.3 to map Microsoft Windows NT domain users to access rights on the PI Server. Please see the PI ICE Administrators Guide or the examples in the Security section below for details on configuring the trust.
*Windows 2000 SP3 Bug: Microsoft has acknowledged a bug in Service Pack 3 which may cause ICE clients to hang when SP 3 is installed on the PI ICE server. This is discussed in Knowledge Base Article 328693 - http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;328693. The workaround described in this article is inappropriate for ICE installations. Microsoft has provided a Hotfix that addresses this problem (Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 330081, http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;330081). Users must contact Microsoft to request this Hotfix. Windows 2000 SP2 does not exhibit this problem. This problem has been resolved with Windows 2000 SP4.
