Name Property (PISDK objects)

             

 

Reads/writes the name of an object. This name can be used in code to identify an object.

 

Syntax

object.Name

The object placeholder represents an object expression that evaluates to an object in the Applies To list.

 

Remarks

The Name property is often used as a key when referencing objects in a collection using the Item property.

 

The rules for what can be used for a Name depend on the object type:

 

PIModule, PIHeading, and PIHeadingSet

    1. The first character must be alphanumeric (% and _ also allowed)

    2. No control characters are allowed; such as linefeeds or tabs

    3. The following characters are not allowed:

            * ' ? ; { } [ ] | ` " \

 

PIProperty, PIAlias, and PISubBatch

    1. No control characters are allowed; such as linefeeds or tabs

    2. The following characters are not allowed:

            * ' ? | ` "
