This is the first release of PI SQL Client. PI SQL Client executes queries on the server side using the PI SQL Data Access Server (RTQP Engine). In this release PI SQL Client contains data access via the OLE DB standard. PI Server 2018 (or later) is required.
The PI SQL Client supports access to the Asset Framework and Event Frames and communicates with the PI SQL Data Access Server (RTQP Engine) which implements a new PI SQL query engine. This query engine is designed to improve performance and scalability of SQL processing with the PI System. This release offers OLE DB support only. Other data access technologies like ODBC and JDBC will be supported in a later release.

This is the second Community Technology Preview (CTP 2) release of the PI SQL Client OLEDB Provider and the first to be available to all customers. We welcome feedback! Please contact us at BetaOLEDB@osisoft.com instead of calling Technical Support.
The PI SQL Client OLEDB Provider supports access to the Asset Framework and Event Frames. This provider communicates with the PI SQL Data Access Server (RTQP Engine) which implements a new PI SQL query engine. This query engine is designed to improve performance and scalability of SQL processing with the PI System.
