PI Vision
PI Vision is an intuitive web-client visualization tool that delivers fast, easy, and secure access to all your PI System data. With PI Vision, you can easily perform ad hoc analysis, discover answers, and share your insights with others. Support for mobile browsers and customized views for small screen devices means that you can access important process information from any device.

PI Vision gives users a quick and easy way to share displays and encourages colleagues to collaborate across the enterprise. PI Vision is easy to deploy, upgrade, and maintain. A single web server hosts PI Vision for modern desktop browsers and mobile devices alike.

PI Vision 2019 provides the following key new features and enhancements:

  • Ad hoc trending - Quickly select data from across displays to add to an ad hoc trending workspace where you can analyze and dive deeper into the data. This workspace is optimized for quick analysis, allowing you to make changes such as adjusting scales, hiding items, or removing items with a single click. A summary table is included in the workspace so that you have additional information on hand such as data item descriptions and summary calculations (minimum, maximum, average).

  • PI ProcessBook Migration - A path forward for PI ProcessBook displays – the PI ProcessBook to PI Vision Migration Utility enables the migration of PI ProcessBook displays into PI Vision as native, editable PIVision displays. Please note: the PI ProcessBook to PI Vision Migration Utility is a separate download and is not included in the PI Vision 2019 Installation Kit.

  • Multiple trend cursors - Trends on displays and in the new ad hoc workspace now support multiple trend cursors for viewing and comparing data values.
  • Popup Trend - The popup trend has been enhanced with many of the same capabilities as the ad hoc trending workspace. There is a now a timebar for time manipulation, options to change scales, a table with data item descriptions and summary calculations (minimum, maximum, average), and undo/redo support.
  • Gauge - The start value of gauges (where the shading of the bar starts) is now configurable with three options: the lowest value, the configured target value, or a custom value. The scales for gauges can now be hidden.
  • XY Plot - XY plot symbols can now be added to collections.
  • Usability enhancements
    • Events table - Events options (Apply Time Range, Compare Similar Events) are now accessible from the context menu of the events table.
    • Navigation links
      • Navigation links are now more discoverable on a display. When hovering over a symbol with a navigation link, the mouse cursor will change to indicate that there is a link and the symbol's tooltip will display the configured hyperlink.
      • Navigating is now a single-click instead of a double-click.
      • A pop-up warning is no longer displayed when navigating to a third-party site.
  • Security configuration - In the previous release, the XY Plot and Events Table symbols required additional configuration. These symbols have been updated so that this is no longer the case. These symbols no longer require the configuration of Kerberos constrained delegation and third-party certificates.
