Last updated: 10-July-2017

After the release of PI Data Archive 2017, critical bugs were found. These bugs are only applicable to PI Data Archive 2017. If you have downloaded, but not installed this release yet, please do not install or upgrade to this version.

OSIsoft has released patches to address these critical bugs. We rolled all the patches and included few additional fixes into a single service pack. If you have already installed or upgraded to PI Data Archive 2017, we strongly recommend you take corrective action immediately by upgrading to PI Data Archive 2017 SP1 (3.4.410.1256). Please download the zipped file titled “CheckAutodynAndReprocess.zip” which contains a PowerShell script and instructions to run the script. Follow the instructions to run the script that reprocesses all auto dynamic archives that were modified after upgrading to PI Data Archive 2017. This script is only required when upgrading from PI Data Archive 2017 with or without previously provided patches.

Details of the bugs found and the versions that fixed them are listed below.

Fixed in 3.4.410.1216 patch for PI Archive Subsystem

174900 - After upgrading to PI Data Archive 2017, querying or writing to an archive that was auto dynamic prior to upgrade might fail with error " [-11142] Record number too big for archive size."

Fixed in 3.4.410.1219 patch for PI Archive Subsystem and PI Backup Subsystem

175004 - Registering an auto-dynamic archive after the archive file was renamed or moved to a new location can result in error “ [-11142] Record Number too big for archive size” while querying or writing to that archive

174999 - Backup fails with error [-11015] Archive File Version Mismatch

Fixed in PI Data Archive 2017 SP1 (3.4.410.1256)

All fixes listed in the patches above.

175205 – The Archive subsystem can become stuck in an infinite loop while flushing events to disk when deleting non-existing events. This can lead to data loss.

175386 – Setup fails to run on Windows Server CORE after 13.June.2017 Windows Updates. This is fixed.

175421 – Audit logs showing public certificate has been edited continuously even though there were no changes to the certificate. This only impact collectives and this is now fixed.

Although the conditions for encountering these bugs are very specific and may not apply to all customers, we strongly recommend all customers apply the service pack by downloading from the download center or by contacting Technical Support. PI Data Archive 2017 SP1 includes all the fixes of the previous patches. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by these bugs.
